ABOUT THE SHOW:
With a royal wedding near, four lovers flee into a dark, eerie forest. There they become pawns in the impassioned battle between Oberon and Titania, the king and queen of the supernatural fairies who are led by Puck. What ensues is sorcery, explosive passion, dance, fickle infatuation, shape-shifting and madcap antics which provide a magical, and often humorous, exploration of romance, lust and marriage.

Oberon/Theseus
Oberon is the King of the Fairies and Titania’s husband. He is a powerful strong-willed character that believes he can do whatever he wants through cunning and vengeance. Theseus is the Duke of Athens, representing law and order.

Titania/Hippolyta
Titania is Queen of the Fairies, wife of Oberon, and a force to be reckoned with in the world of magic. She is a fierce yet charming leader who uses her knowledge and physical prowess to influence those around her. Hippolyta is an Amazonian Queen betrothed to Theseus.

Puck
Puck, also called Robin Goodfellow, is Oberon’s right-hand, his faithful fairy servant who has a vivacious and mischievous way of executing orders and guiding the play.

Hermia
Beloved of Lysander and Demetrius, but only in love with Lysander. Idealistic, feisty, and bold enough to take matters into their own hands.

Hermia’s devoted and jealous best friend, fawning over Demetrius. A romantic with sharp wit, unyielding attentiveness and physical insecurity.

An endearing, facile, and impulsive young lover who runs away with Hermia after being denied permission to marry. Romantic, hopeful and respectable Athenian Society Member.

Beloved of Helena, but in love with Hermia. A witty, smooth, and arrogant young Athenian with a sense of entitlement. Pursues Lysander and Helena in spite of Hermia’s attempts to woo.

Nick Bottom
An over-confident, self-involved actor chosen to play Pyramus in the play celebrating Theseus and Hippolyta’s wedding. After being a fool, he finds himself in the physical manifestation of his actions.

Quince/Egeus
Quince is the nominal leader and amateur playwright of the play celebrating Theseus and Hippolyta’s wedding. Egeus is Hermia’s parent. An old-fashioned, insensitive, and protective guardian.

Flute/Peaseblossom
Flute is a soft-spoken, thoughtful craftsperson and the youngest chosen actor performing in the play celebrating Theseus and Hippolyta’s wedding. Peaseblossom is a devoted member of Titania’s court.

Snug/Moth

AUDITION INFORMATION
AUDITION DATE: Video submissions due as soon as possible. Rehearsals have already begun, so we are looking to fill the role immediately.
REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will be held at Upright’s Studio on Main beginning April 18, 2022 and will generally be four nights per week from 6:30-10pm, Monday through Friday and Saturday from 10a-2p. Not all actors will be called for every rehearsal. Masks are highly recommended for all in-person rehearsals and will be required should the COVID-19 community level for Tarrant County reach high on the CDC website.
PERFORMANCE DATES: May 27-June 18, 2022, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 3pm. Additional 3pm matinee on Saturday, June 18.
