Upright Theatre Co. is holding auditions for the regional premiere of Amityville ‘74. Auditions will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 12:00pm at Upright Theatre Company in Euless, TX. Callbacks (if needed) will be August 24, 2024 at 12:00pm. To audition, performers are asked to fill out an online audition form and make an appointment using the links provided at the bottom of this page. ABOUT THE SHOW:
At 3:15 AM on November 13th, 1974, Ronald “Butch” Defeo took a .35 caliber Marlin Rifle and murdered his entire family in cold blood. Adapted from a series of interviews conducted over the span of four decades, this dramatic thriller explores the chilling events that occurred at the infamous Dutch Colonial on 112 Ocean Avenue, known throughout the globe as the Amityville Murder House.
UPRIGHT RATING: MA (Mature Audiences)
*Strong language, violence, jump scares, drug use and adult situations. Not recommended for children.

BUTCH DEFEO - Male. 20s. The younger version of Ronnie.
RONALD DEFEO SR. - Male. 40s-50s. The Patriarch of the Defeo family.
LOUISE DEFEO - Female. 35-50s. The Matriarch of the DeFeo family.
DAWN DEFEO - Female. Late teens. Around 17/18. The Golden Child.
JULIE DEFEO - Female. 10-13. A bit of a loudmouth. Doubles as KID 1.
JENNY DEFEO - Female. 8-12. The youngest member of the household. A bit of a troublemaker Doubles as KID 2.
ALEXIS RUSSO - Female. 30s. The daughter of a famed reporter.
JODIE - Female. 40s/50s. The Defeos neighbor.
PEG - Female. Late teens/early 20s. Ronnie's old girlfriend. Doubles as NEWSCASTER
3 and VOICES if needed.
MICHAEL YESWIT - Male. Late teens. Dawn's boyfriend. Doubles as NEWSCASTER 4,
SALESMAN, and VOICES if needed.
MALE LONG ISLANDER - Male. Any Age. Portrays all the male denizens of Amityville.

AUDITION DATE: Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 12:00pm. Callbacks (if needed) will be August 24, 2024 at 12:00pm. Audition forms and conflict calendars can be found at the bottom of this page.
LOCATION: Upright Theatre Company - 2501 N Main St, Ste 210, Euless, TX 76039
REHEARSALS: Rehearsals begin August 26, 2024 and will generally be three to four nights per week from 7-10pm, Monday through Thursday, and Saturday afternoons.
PERFORMANCE DATES: October 4-November 3, 2024, on Fridays at 7:30pm and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 3pm.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
TOMMY JAMERSON (PLAYWRIGHT) Tommy has received over two hundred professional productions, and his children’s shows, The Big Bad Bullysaurus, Princess Pigface, Choose Your Own Oz, and Alice the Brave & Other Tales from Wonderland, have been performed all over the world. His one-act comedy, Rags to Bitches, won Best Short Play at the 14th annual Downtown Urban Arts Festival and starred RuPaul’s Drag Race alums Alexis Michelle and Brita Filter. His play love/fantasy was named Best New Play at the Playwright’s Forum Festival. Tommy holds a BS in Theatre with a Concentration in Playwriting from Indiana State University, and an MFA in Playwriting from the University of New Orleans. He is currently the Resident Playwright for the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts in Hammond, LA. He lives in West Orange, NJ with his husband Mark and their dog Darby.
