To audition, artists are asked to fill out an online audition form and make an appointment using the links provided below. Artists should bring their headshot and resume, along with a conflict calendar that can be found at the bottom of this page.

*Please Note: Actors must be between the ages of 8-18 years old to be considered for casting.

WHAT TO PREPARE:
Actors should prepare 16 bars (approx. 30-60 seconds) from a Broadway or Disney song of their choice. No accompanist will be provided, so actors are asked to submit a link with their accompaniment track prior to their audition. Singing a cappella is strongly discouraged. Auditioners will also be asked to perform a cold reading of one of the provided audition monologues at the audition with other actors in the audition room. Audition monologues do not need to be memorized and will be posted on Upright Theatre Company’s website prior to auditions. Please submit your audition track HERE.

Dance Auditions will be held from 10:00am to 10:30am on Saturday, September 26, so please be prepared to attend this portion of the audition in addition to your scheduled audition time. Actors will learn a brief dance combination and perform it in groups. Please bring clothes and shoes that you can move in.

Callbacks - Saturday, October 3 - 10am-12pm
Callbacks are invitation only, and actors will be notified if they are needed at callbacks via email. Not all who auditioned may be called back. Those who are not called back are still being considered for roles. Song cuts and sides will be made available prior to callbacks. Actors should be very familiar with the selections, but do not have to be memorized. ALL auditioners will know if they are cast by Monday, October 5.

Production Materials Fee
Please note there will be a $125 Production Materials Fee for all cast members. This fee goes towards royalties, scripts, costumes, set and props for the production. If you are interested in ways to help offset this fee through fundraising efforts, please email us at [email protected].

ABOUT THE SHOW:
Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, with a beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, Annie JR. features everyone’s favorite little redhead in her very first adventure.

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

ROLES AVAILABLE:

Annie
Annie is a complex little girl. She is a tough, streetwise urchin who is nevertheless vulnerable when she thinks she might lose what has become most important to her: a newfound "family" who loves her.
Gender: Female | Vocal range: A3-E5

The Orphans
Molly, Tessie, July, Duffy, Kate and Pepper. These girls are gritty, neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and potentially lovable.
Gender: Female

Miss Hannigan
This woman is definitely a "has-been." Her distaste for her job and the children that are part of it should be obvious in every line she speaks, every song she sings and every move she makes. Gender: Female | Vocal range: G3-D5

Grace Farrell
Grace is mature, calm, cool and "together." She is classy and businesslike when dealing with Miss Hannigan and Warbucks, yet maternal toward Annie.
Gender: Female | Vocal range: A3-D5

Rooster
Rooster and Lily are quite the team -- "team" being the operative word, as the characters play off each other constantly. Rooster is a flashy and self-assured gambling man and brother to Miss Hannigan.
Gender: Male | Vocal range: Bb3-Eb5

Lily
Rooster and Lily are quite the team -- "team" being the operative word, as the characters play off each other constantly. Lily (airhead that she is) is always distracted, although she manages to pick up on any conversation involving money.
Gender: Female | Vocal range: Bb3-Eb5

Warbucks
Self-assured and confident. At first awkwardly affectionate toward Annie, he soon finds himself completely charmed by her. He begins his transformation when he views "N.Y.C." through Annie's eyes and falls in love with the city again...and with her.
Gender: Male | Vocal range: A3-D5

Sandy
In this production, Sandy is played by a human. Sandy is Annie's canine friend and scrappy in her own right. This dog also has to sing.
Gender: Any

Servants (Drake, Mrs. Greer and Mrs. Pugh)
The most fastidious of domestic help.
Gender: Any | Vocal range: A3-D5

Ensemble
Servants, pedestrians, Bundles, the chauffeur, Louis Howe, the apple seller, the dogcatcher, etc.
Gender: Any
