Upright Theatre Co. is holding auditions for its upcoming production of Peter Quilter’s Duets. Auditions will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00am at Upright Theatre Company’s studio space in Euless, TX. To audition, performers are asked to fill out an online audition form and make an appointment using the links provided on the bottom of this page. Actors will be asked to do cold readings from the script and are encouraged to be familiar with the material. Artists should bring their headshot and resume, along with a conflict calendar that can be found below.
ABOUT THE SHOW:
A gloriously funny examination of the chaotic world of love, relationships and why the grass is never greener. Duets is a hilarious tribute to the strength and madness of the human heart.
Four stories, four sets of characters, four crucial moments. Jonathan and Wendy are on a blind date and hoping to get it right this time even though they've never got it right before; Barrie is not really interested in women but Janet sees that as no reason to stop trying; Shelley and Bobby have decided to holiday in Spain to finalize their divorce whilst drowning in cocktails; Angela is marrying for the third time to the dismay of her brother Toby and amidst a barrage of bad omens and a dress resembling a parachute.
UPRIGHT RATING: PG (Parental Guidance)
*Fun romantic comedy with occasional drinking, smoking, and mild sexual references.

DUET #2: SECRETARIAL SKILLS
Barrie
Wealthy, well-connected man considering the marriage “backup plan” that his secretary and close friend Janet proposes, even though he’s not really interested in women.
Gender: Male | Age: 35 to 55
Janet
Secretary to Barrie for whom she cares for very much, even though he’s not really interested in women. Hopes they will end up together if they aren’t able to find love.
Gender: Female | Age: 30 to 45
DUET #3: THE HOLIDAY
Shelley
On holiday in Spain with her soon-to-be ex-husband Bobby. Hoping to enjoy one last trip since it was already paid for anyway.

Bobby
On holiday in Spain with his soon-to-be ex-wife Shelley. Hoping to enjoy one last trip since it was already paid for anyway.

DUET #4: THE BRIDE-TO-BE
Angela
Marrying for the third time, but on her wedding day, everything seems to go wrong.

Toby
Angela’s older brother; tries to keep Angela from panicking when nothing seems to go her way.

AUDITION INFORMATION
AUDITION DATE: Saturday, January 15 at 11am. Audition forms, appointment links and conflict calendars can be found at the bottom of this page.
LOCATION: Upright Theatre Company’s Studio on Main, 2501 N Main St, Ste 210, Euless, TX 76039
REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will be held at Upright’s Studio on Main beginning January 17, 2022 and will generally be 3-4 nights per week from 6:30-10pm, Monday through Friday and Saturday from 10a-2p. Not all actors will be called for every rehearsal as each duet will rehearse separately for the first two weeks. Masks will be required for all in-person rehearsals.
PERFORMANCE DATES: February 11-20, 2022, on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 3pm. Additional Valentine’s Day show on February 14 at 7:30pm.
