Upright Theatre Co. is holding auditions for its upcoming production of Ghost The Musical (Small Cast Edition).Performers are asked to fill out an online audition form and submit their headshot, resume, conflict calendar, and a video audition to [email protected] of them singing 32 bars of a song in the style of the show by March 14, 2025. (No singing a cappella, please.) Callbacks (if needed) will be held in-person on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 6:30pm to 10:00pm at Upright Theatre Company in Euless, TX. ABOUT THE SHOW:
Adapted from the hit film by its Academy Award-winning screenwriter, Bruce Joel Rubin, GHOST THE MUSICAL follows Sam and Molly, a young couple whose connection takes a shocking turn after Sam’s untimely death. Trapped between two worlds, Sam refuses to leave Molly when he learns she is in grave danger. Desperate to communicate with her, he turns to a storefront psychic, Oda Mae Brown, who helps him protect Molly and avenge his death.

Strong singer, charming leading man, the hero of the story. In love with his long-term girlfriend, Molly; Murdered suddenly. Must come to terms with his death and find his killer. Strong actor and vocalist. Should move well and have experience in stage combat. Guitar playing a plus. Pop tenor with strong belt: G# – Bb
(Male, Age 25-35)
MOLLY JENSEN
Strong singer. An artist living in New York City with her boyfriend, Sam, until he's murdered. Must help Sam avenge his death. Sweet, smart, but too trusting. Pop rock singer with strong belt: G3 to Eb5 (Female, Age 25-35)
ODA MAE BROWN
Dynamic singer, larger-than-life character. Smart, sincere, comedic spiritual advisor with a big heart. Vocal range Ab3 – F5
(Black Female, Age 30-50)
CARL BRUNER
Sam’s best friend with hidden motives. Stage combat experience a plus. Vocal range Eb – A4
(Male, Age 25-35)
SUBWAY GHOST / ORLANDO JONES / ENSEMBLE
Aggressive ghost who eventually aids Sam in learning about his powers in the afterlife. Extremely physical role, a large imposing force. Stage combat, strong mover a plus. Experience with rap also a plus.

WILLIE LOPEZ / ENSEMBLE
Menacing, dangerous, street smart thug hired by Carl to steal Sam’s wallet but results in Sam’s murder. Stage combat experience a plus. Vocal range Eb3 – A4

KUROGO GHOSTS
Individuals that interact with the characters onstage, move scenery, and are involved in fight and dance choreography. These characters help to create the special ghost effects in an artistic way and are integral to the production.
(Two Male, Two Female; Age 18+)

LOCATION: Upright Theatre Company’s Studio on Main, 2501 N Main St, Ste 210, Euless, TX 76039
REHEARSALS: Rehearsals begin April 7, 2025 and will generally be four nights per week from 7-10pm, Monday through Thursday, and Saturday between 12p and 4p. Not all actors will be called for every rehearsal.
PERFORMANCE DATES: May 16-June 14, 2025, on Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 3:00pm
