Upright Theatre Co. is holding youth auditions for their upcoming Junior Series production of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland JR. Performers are asked to fill out an online audition form and submit their headshot, resume, conflict calendar, and a video audition to [email protected] of them performing one or more of the preselected monologues provided below and singing 16 bars (approx. 30-60 seconds) of a Broadway or Disney song in the style of the show by January 19, 2025. (No singing a cappella, please.) Actors should be very familiar with the monologue, but do not have to be memorized. Videos are best shared through Google Drive or an unlisted YouTube link. Callbacks (if needed) will be held in-person on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 and Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Upright Theatre Company’s studio space in Euless, TX. Online audition forms and conflict calendars can be found at the bottom of this page.
*Please Note: Actors must be between the ages of 8-18 years old to be considered for casting.
Callbacks – Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22 from 6:00pm-7:00pm
Callbacks are invitation only, and actors will be notified if they are needed at callbacks via email. Not all who auditioned may be called back. Those who are not called back are still being considered for roles. Song cuts and sides will be made available prior to callbacks. Actors should be very familiar with the selections, but do not have to be memorized. ALL auditioners will know if they are cast by Friday, January 24th.
Production Materials Fee
Please note there will be a $125 Production Materials Fee for all cast members who receive a role in the production. This fee goes towards royalties, scripts, costumes, set and props for the production. ABOUT THE SHOW:
Fall down the rabbit hole with Alice as she navigates the curious world of Wonderland on a journey of self-discovery.
When young Alice finds herself in a strange world where everything seems upside down, she must find her way home…and find herself along the way. As she travels through Wonderland, she encounters all of the iconic characters that audiences have come to love, including the ever-tardy White Rabbit, the grinning Cheshire Cat, a cool Caterpillar, the wacky Mad Hatter, and the hot-tempered Queen of Hearts.
Alice in Wonderland JR. features Disney favorites such as “The Golden Afternoon,” “The Unbirthday Song,” and “Painting the Roses Red” along with brand-new songs, including music from the 2010 live-action film. Whether this is your first experience with Alice or your hundredth, you’ll fall in love all over again with this timeless story of adventure, imagination, and pure fun!

The zany, magical, and unique characters that Alice meets along her journey, from cats and rabbits to flowers and doorknobs. This group includes participants in the caucus race who are swept up by the ocean of tears; Party Guests at the March Hare and Mad Hatter’s tea party; and Royal Cards, servants of the Queen and King of Hearts, including Ace of Spades, Two of Clubs, Three of Diamonds, and Four of Hearts.

AUDITION DATES: Video submissions due by January 19, 2025. Callbacks (if needed) will be held in-person on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 and Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Audition forms and conflict calendars can be found at the bottom of this page.

REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will begin January 24, 2025 and will generally be Tuesday through Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, with some additional Friday evenings closer to opening. Not all actors will be called for every rehearsal.
PERFORMANCE DATES: March 8-23, 2025 on Saturdays at 10am and 12:30pm, with additional spring break performances on March 18 and 20 at 12:30pm.
