Upright Theatre Co. is holding youth auditions for their upcoming Junior Series production of Disney’s Frozen JR. Auditions will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 11am-1pm at Upright Theatre Company’s studio space in Euless, TX. Callbacks (if needed) will be on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11am-1pm.
To audition, artists are asked to fill out an online audition form and make an appointment using the links provided below. Artists should bring their headshot and resume, along with a conflict calendar that can be found at the bottom of this page.
*Please Note: Actors must be between the ages of 8-18 years old to be considered for casting.
WHAT TO PREPARE:
Actors should prepare 16 bars (approx. 30-60 seconds) from a Broadway or Disney song of their choice. No accompanist will be provided, so actors are asked to submit a link with their accompaniment track prior to their audition. Singing a cappella is strongly discouraged. Auditioners are also asked to prepare one of the preselected monologues provided prior to the audition. Actors should be very familiar with the monologue, but do not have to be memorized. Auditioners may be asked to perform a cold reading at the audition with other actors in the audition room, if necessary. Audition monologues can be found using the link at the bottom of this page.
Dance Auditions will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 28 so please be prepared to attend this portion of the audition in addition to your scheduled audition time. Actors will learn a brief dance combination and perform it in groups. Please bring clothes and shoes that you can move in.
Callbacks - Saturday, October 5th, 11:00am - 1:00pm
Callbacks are invitation only, and actors will be notified if they are needed at callbacks via email. Not all who auditioned may be called back. Those who are not called back are still being considered for roles. Song cuts and sides will be made available prior to callbacks. Actors should be very familiar with the selections, but do not have to be memorized. ALL auditioners will know if they are cast by Monday, October 7th.
FROZEN JR. AUDITION WORKSHOP:
Upright Theatre Co. will be holding a Frozen Jr. Audition Workshop on Saturday, September 14 from 11am-1pm. During the workshop, Choreographer, Gina Gwozdz, will teach students a portion of the dance combination that will be used at auditions so that they will have time to practice in advance. They will also be able to bring their audition song and receive tips from our Music Directors, Noël Clark and Jayme Vaughn-Linebarger, on how to make their audition the best it can be! Production Materials Fee
Please note there will be a $125 Production Materials Fee for all cast members who receive a role in the production. This fee goes towards royalties, scripts, costumes, set and props for the production. ABOUT THE SHOW:
Frozen JR. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.
A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen JR. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!

Pabbie and Bulda are the mystical leaders of the Hidden Folk who have a soft spot for "strays." Ever-benevolent, these parental figures want what's best for Kristoff, even if they are a bit misguided in their efforts.

Bishop
The bishop officiates the coronation and passing of the crown to Elsa. This spiritual supervisor must communicate to the Townspeople of Arendelle in a serious and formal manner.

Kristoff
Kristoff is a hardworking ice harvester. Kristoff has a sarcastic veneer and a rough-around-the-edges exterior that hides a big heart. Taken in by the Hidden Folk when he was young, he loves Pabbie and Bulda dearly, but is a bit of a loner with a reindeer for a best friend- until he meets Anna.

Sven
Sven is a reindeer of few words, fiercely loyal pal to Kristoff, and loves giving the ice harvester a hard time.

Hans
The ambitious Prince of the Southern Isles and overlooked thirteenth son of a king. Hans constantly strives to find a way to make good and stand out. He boasts an exceedingly charming facade that fools everyone - including Anna and, ideally, the audience! - into believing he's Prince Charming, when really, he's just a jerk.

Weselton
A visiting duke who possesses a huge inferiority complex. A bombastic, overbearing sycophant, Weselton's sole purpose is to hobnob with influencers and royalty.

The magical snowman created by Anna and Elsa when they were young. Olaf is endearingly delighted by everything - especially the idea of summer.
